We are seeking an Intermediate Mechanical/Process Procurement Support Designer – Remote.  This is a remote position based out of our Oak Ridge, TN office.

How will you contribute to the team?  

  • Assists in development, preparation of engineering procurement support deliverables (e.g. equipment and component specifications, calculations, bill of materials (BOMs), technical assessments, vendor document evaluations, etc.) for both nuclear and conventional systems in accordance with SNC-Lavalin Nuclear Inc. / Candu Energy Quality Assurance Programs and project requirements.

  • Assists in procurement support activities.

  • Supports the Procurement Engineering Manager with timely updates for procurement engineering progress and performance.

  • Provides technical support to engineering stakeholders to determine the cost, quality, and availability of equipment and components.

  • Provides technical support to engineering stakeholders to analyze technical requirements, vendor provided information and documentation and to identify suitable suppliers.

  • Attends walkdowns, site and vendor visits, and technical/project meetings, as required.

  • Performs task in accordance to defined work scopes and client requirements.

  • Interfaces with construction/procurement partners and utility stakeholders, as required.

  • Must be “Team” oriented with a demonstrated ability to work well with other and promote a positive work environment.

What will you contribute?  

  • Requires a Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Engineering Degree, or Engineering Science from an accredited University.

  • Minimum 5 years mechanical engineering experience required.

  • Knowledge in mechanical and/or process system engineering principles.

  • Knowledge of mechanical equipment: pumps, heat exchangers, water filtration, demineralizer skids, etc.

  • Ability to apply engineering principles and develop effective practical solutions.

  • Familiarity with nuclear codes and standards, including CSA N285.0, CSA N299, ASME BPVC Section III Division 1 and ASME B31.1, is an asset.

  • Good fluency and proficiency in communication (written and verbal) and presentation skills.

  • Working knowledge of analytical and design tools (e.g., PipeStress, ANSYS, FloMaster and/or MathCAD) is an asset.

  • Experience working in an EPC/project delivery environment is an asset.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office-related software applications, i.e., Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint.

  • Strong planning and organizational skills, with strong multi-tasking skills.

  • Adaptability to change and thrives in a dynamic, team-oriented environment.

  • Registered, or eligible to register, as an Engineer-in-Training with respective professional body.

  • Engineering experience in the nuclear industry is an asset.

  • Field engineering and implementation experiences are assets.

  • Eligible for Security Clearance through Public Works and Government Services Canada (PWGSC).

  • Occasional travel to client job site sites is required.

  • Must be a U.S. citizen in order to be considered.
