Located in Halifax, Nova Scotia, you will work under the guidance of senior engineers. This position includes a broad range of consulting tasks. Strong verbal and written communication skills is a must, you’ll have a keen interest in a fast paced work environment, and be proficient in organization, and time/budget management. You must be able to work interchangeably in a team setting, and independently, and will be expected to liaise with professional staff including engineers, technicians, subcontractors and clients.

How you will contribute:

  • Interpreting engineering specifications, resolving design and field engineering difficulties and coordinating work schedules;
  • Engineering calculations for equipment and system sizing, use of modeling software, development of layouts 2D and 3D, field work for data gathering, construction site inspections;
  • Ensuring design work interfaces well with that of other disciplines;
  • Coordination and interaction with drafting in the preparation of design drawings.
  • Coordination and preparation of project specifications.
  • Contributing to the planning and scheduling of work to achieve prescribed objectives;
  • Preparing progress reports and monitoring project controls;
  • Recommending changes in plans and specifying estimated costs;
  • Recommending substitutions in materials and payment for complete work;
  • Consulting with other departments, suppliers and contractors to clarify specifications;
  • Keeping abreast of new technical developments and estimating their impacts; and
  • Project specific roles to be determined by project manager.

What you will contribute:

  • Recent completion of an Engineering Degree program with a focus in Mechanical, combined with application as an EIT
  • Excellent understanding of engineering disciplines and knowledge of reciprocal effects of the work upon other disciplines/fields;
  • Proficient with mechanical design and analysis, including use of mechanical modelling software;
  • Exposure to HVAC and building services design methods an asset.
  • Proficient with the use of MS Office Suite.
  • Strong communication in both report writing, presentations, and with all internal/external stakeholders
  • Must be open to some travel – as limited travel within Canada maybe required
  • Must have an active and valid Driver’s license
