Package Coordinator, Mechanical Outfitting

SNC Lavalin, Dragados, Pennecon (SDP) General Partnership is seeking a Main Mechanical Outfitting (MMO) Package Coordinator to join the West White Rose Project team in Newfoundland. Reporting into the Construction, MMO team, you will provide an integral position directly on site to the project.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare reports for the Main Mechanical Outfitting (MMO) department as required
• Oversee and advise on all work being completed within the MO-structural, piping, riser/J-tubes, etc scopes
• Plan all work packages within the MO scope of work according to schedule and drawings
• Prepare technical documentation for MO-structural, piping, riser/J-tubes, etc
• Maintain weekly records of work performed by MMO department
• Prepare and implement work schedules for construction of MO-structural, piping, riser/J-tubes, etc

• Review quality records, test reports, and certify fabrication of various components of the project
• Communicate and collaborate with Designers, Quality Field Inspectors, Weld Inspectors, Non-Destructive testers, Fabricators and Owner Representatives to evaluate design and fabrication details and resolve non-conformances
• Advise on constructability issues
• Prepares and reviews engineering studies, design drawings and documents, and material and equipment specifications
• Resolves specialty related engineering issues by applying accepted principles, codes, and standards
• Interpreting engineering specifications, resolving design and field engineering difficulties and coordinating work schedules
• Ensuring design work interfaces well with that of other disciplines
• Preparing progress reports and monitoring project controls
• Recommending changes in plans and specifying estimated costs
• Consulting with other departments, suppliers, contractors, and the labour force to clarify specifications
• Keeping abreast of new technical developments and estimating their impacts

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Concentrating in Structural or Mechanical) or Construction Management; alternatively, a graduate of a post-secondary technical college or university program with additional construction Has minimum 5 years of experience in major construction projects, specifically with embedded items in a slipform concrete environment
• Must have thorough knowledge of engineering practices and economic principles, calculation methods, design details, international codes and standards, procedures, and specifications.
• Demonstrated experience with project management
• Strong exposure to controlling project control, productivity, and budgetary responsibilities
• Stakeholder management experience in dealing with craft, subcontractors, and the client, holding all to a high professionalism
• Ability to problem solve, and take ownership of issues as they arise from beginning to end
• Robust reporting skills, especially in the use of excel and data usage

Please note this role will be based full-time in our Argentia, NL construction site office.
