Atkins seeks an energetic and highly motivated self-starter to join our Orlando, FL Finance Group as a Project Financial/ Billing Analyst.


MAJOR FUNCTION/ROLE

In compliance with company policy, Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, and Sarbanes-Oxley requirements, supports Project Manager (PM) with project initiation, ongoing support, and project close-out.


JOB DUTIES

As a part of our Project Finance team, a Project Analyst is responsible for providing Project Manager support on a portfolio of projects through their life cycle and must thoroughly understand the financial components of a project and proactively work with Project Managers to monitor billed and unbilled revenue.
  • Set up projects in accordance with the terms and conditions of the contract. Responsible to review the contract and understand the contract billing terms. Verify that labor, expense and subconsultant budgets are created in Oracle Projects in accordance to the terms stipulated in the contract documents.
  • Work with the Project Managers to ensure the accuracy/integrity of project data throughout the project life cycle.
  • Generate project invoices in a timely and accurate manner and assist in identifying opportunities for additional billings.
  • Monitors project balances on Work in Progress and Billing in excess of cost accounts.
  • Performs monthly billing reconciliation.
  • Prepare and maintain spreadsheets and schedules to support billing.
  • Prepares invoice certifications for small and disadvantaged business subcontractors.
  • Retrieve back-up documentation and copies for inclusion with invoices.
  • Confer with accounts receivable collections staff regarding unpaid contract billings and reconciliation of variances that occur in the application of cash.
  • Applies best practices and company policies throughout all phases of a project.
  • Performs all work in compliance with company policy, Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, and in accordance with internal controls.


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or related field with one year accounting or finance experience.


SPECIAL SKILLS
  • Must to be able to quickly get up to speed on your assigned projects as well as Atkins North America policies, procedures and databases and acquire an understanding of the Project Analyst role.
  • Flexibility and ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and collaborate with various managers in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Oracle Projects experience preferred. 
  • Proficient creating pivot tables and VLOOKUPs. 
  • Good time management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to maintain discretion and confidentiality at all times.
  • General understanding of General Accepted Accounting Practices and cost accounting.
  • Experience in the engineering industry a plus.
