We are hiring Project Controls Engineers at all levels who will play a central role in making exciting and diverse projects a reality. Valued up to £100m, your projects will range across the construction sector. You'll be trusted to head your team, knowing we all want you to succeed, and are ready to help you develop further. Your Purpose:

  • Establish and manage the Performance Measurement Baseline (PMB) and Spearhead the Project Control deliverable to collate monthly KPI & progress data related to time, cost, risk and quality for monthly business reporting.
  • Accountable for delivering the project requirements around earned value management by setting the PMB or implementing amendments to the current PMB, agreeing on the progress methodology and timely submission of project actuals with the contractor and spearheading the production of EV reports for monthly business reviews.
  • Work closely with the Project Controls team to improve/sustain operating policies, procedures & processes and ensure their proper application by the Project Controls team when conducting risk, planning and cost management activities.
  • Manage the execution of the change management process on the project as mandated by governance. Chair and/or facilitate the necessary project-level change forums, escalate change papers that require additional approvals and ensure all conclusions are enacted within the change control system and toolsets.
  • Support the Project Controls team by providing specialist advice and technical knowledge to resolve delays, issues, and other competences throughout the project.
  • Integration of schedule, cost, quality, and risk to drive expedient project delivery.
  • Lead programme/project reporting, taking ownership of its quality, accuracy and robustness, and ensure the monthly project review pack is compiled and presented to the Project head and other senior stakeholders.
  • Provide interpretation of the data in the monthly reporting to support prompt decision-making.
  • Coordinate multiple contributors to conduct change impact assessments and support the Programme Management team in driving agreement on ‘best for Programme’ conclusions.
  • As a head, you will set individuals' objectives, review performance, undertake appraisals, provide ongoing formal and informal feedback, and ensure all staff know what they must achieve and how they're performing against their objectives.
  • Undertake self-assessment of procedural compliance, sharing lessons learned and best-practice within the Project Controls community.
  • Support the Project Controls team in preparation for and, or attendance at meetings to deliver market and strategy insights to clients’ senior commercial teams.

What you can bring:

  • Experience in a Project Management or Project Controls role within large construction projects, preferably with a formal professional Project Management qualification.
  • Proficient in EVM processes and their application on construction projects and possess a strong aptitude to head schedule, cost, risk, change management activities, and reporting.
  • Knowledge of transport, major infrastructure or construction projects (under NEC Forms of Contract), specifically surrounding client and consultation.
  • Ability to manage stakeholders and information flow in a matrix environment, possessing a solid aptitude toward working horizontally across business areas and vertically to senior levels of management, providing specialist advice as required.
  • Experiento manage and motivating a team within a large-scale project environment.
  • Consistent attention to detail with the ability to solve complex problems and mitigate risks.
  • Knowledge of public sector policies, processes and procedures and associated political impacts.

Business Development:

  • Support with the Project Controls business development activity.
  • Support with the review of our Key Account Management Plans for all key clients.
  • Monitor and manage Project Controls activity and associated expenditures within your remit.
  • Generate high-quality leadership material for use on the website & in the market.
  • Secure year-on-year margin improvement on project delivery.
  • Further develop our off-shore capability, including managing their use on project delivery.

Monitor and control compliance with all key metrics, including (but not limited to):

  • Project Health Checks.
  • Risk register review and updates.
  • Utilisation.
  • PSR Completion.
  • Timesheets.

Account management:

  • Support the account management team to maximise our impact.
  • Enhance the reputation of our business.
  • Increase our share of the client’s spend.
  • Exploit opportunities for cross-selling our full spectrum of services & locations.
  • Leading interfaces with design and engineering elements of our business.
  • Upskilling others and providing career growth opportunities.
  • Drive high levels of client satisfaction.

Project leadership:

  • Having leadership skills necessary to direct and manage the project team having responsibility, under minimum supervision, delivering portfolios and projects.
  • Be the ambassador for Faithful+Gould, your profession and the professional institution to which you belong.
  • Providing guidance and technical advice to different stakeholders, including effectively chairing meetings.
  • Clear understanding of competence in project commercial accountability.

Technical leadership:

  • Actively broaden your experience and expertise in line with the core proficiency.
  • Have an up-to-date and developing knowledge of legal and technical matters relevant to you.
  • work and the law of the region or country where you practise.
  • Participating in relevant internal/external training initiatives.
  • Applying the concepts of quality assurance and environmental management.
  • Managing the client relationship and service delivery.

Team building and management:

  • Managing and helping grow our service and sector-focused teams.
  • Mentoring and developing your team.

Attributes:

  • Proven track record of leading projects for or on behalf of local or national transportation clients.
  • Proven track record of working in a consultancy environment, delivering exceptional projects and managing teams.
  • Degree qualified in a construction or finance-related field.
  • Preferably Chartered with RICS, ICE, AACE, ACostE, MAPM or similar.
