Purpose of the Job:

Project Cost Controller is responsible for continuous measurement, analysis, forecasting and reporting of project cost, cash and revenues, for monitoring and recording changes as well as for implementation of aligned project specific strategies for cost control. The Project Cost Controller is responsible for all the financial aspects of a project and ensuring the financial information aligns to the latest project schedule.

How will you contribute to the team?

To perform this role successfully, the individual will be responsible for but not limited to the following:

Project Control lifecycle -

  • Implementing and maintaining the company’s Integrated Project Controls System.
  • Identifying and applying Project Controls best practices.
  • Developing detailed Projects Cost Structures and coding under the Standard Work Breakdown Structures for various project types.
  • Performing variance analysis and developing effective strategies and recovery plans to bring cost in line with budget.
  • Participate in and contribute to risk and opportunities assessments.
  • Deploying earned value management in line with Linxon strategy.
  • Defining and implementing basis for progress measurement and rules of credit.
  • Supporting contract management on claims and change orders.
  • Supporting resource load planning and scheduling.
  • Maintaining and developing cost database for benchmarking.
  • Performing and coordinating ad-hoc project controls analysis and support.
  • Adhere to all safety, health, and environmental rules and regulations.
  • Assisting project management to develop and enforce lessons learned within the company.
  • Contributing to Linxon worldwide development, assisting other regions to build a strong knowledge networking.
  • Leading the preparation of the cost to complete estimate.

Budget Management -

  • Supporting tendering activities with detailed cost estimates and cashflows.
  • Establishing project cost budgets.
  • Compiling, monitoring and reporting on project performance, cost, revenue, cash and progress.
  • Accumulate, allocate and assure accuracy, integrity and timely reporting of cost accounting records and results in accordance with IFRS 15 and established company policy, procedures and deadlines.
  • Prepare/record journal entries for area of responsibility.
  • Ensure requirements for multi-currency related transactions are properly hedged/accounted for and prepare hedge effectiveness report on a quarterly basis.
  • Preparation of customer invoices and follow up cash collection.
  • Identifying trends and quantifying cost variances, collecting and recording trends and reflecting the approved trend impacts in the project forecast.

Stakeholder & Client Management -

  • Maintaining a change register and incorporate approved changes in the project budget and forecast and communicate approved changes to the Project Management team.
  • Working closely with Project Management and other project stakeholders.
  • Liaising with the client, representing Linxon at a high standard.

  • Working in an office and on a construction site.

Experience Required -

  • Extensive experience in Project Controls, especially project costing, estimating, cost control functions and change control.
  • Experience in budget allocation and establishing Cost Baselines.
  • Engineering, procurement, and construction management with focus on lumpsum price contract models.
  • Cashflow forecasting.
  • Field and construction work.
  • Risk management.

  • Ability to gather and analyze data, draw conclusions and make appropriate recommendations.
  • Quality-focused with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to deliver under minimal direct supervision.
  • Proficiency in Project Controls Software and strong MS Excel skills for analysis and reporting.
  • Familiar with industry practices.
  • Knowledgeable in Total Cost Management.
  • Good understanding of Earned Value Management (EVM).
  • Develop good working practices and continually strive for improvements in cooperation with other project offices.
  • Ability to meet safety requirements to attend site visits.
  • Knowledge of Cost Management Systems and Primavera P6 software preferred.
  • Strong background in T&D industry.

Education Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Cost Accountant or related field and relevant job experience of minimum 5.
  • Working experience in Finance.
