The Role:

The Project Engineer – OPC will be a member of Linxon India Engineering Team located in CHENNAI. The Project Engineer – OPC will work on project/Tender specific activities assigned to the OPC group along with skilled team on a wide range of international Traction projects. The position provides design for engineering discipline across multiple engineering projects within the OPC. To complete the assignments on multiple projects of any size in accordance with contract specifications, quality standards and efficiently. Role demands for application of highest quality standards and safety requirements.

Knowledge & Skill:

  • Bachelor’s Degree/Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in Power Supply and Distribution of Rail system in both AC & DC for Metro, Monorail, High speed traction applications.
  • Good knowledge on earthing and bonding, starry current and stray current mitigation
  • Hands on experience in HV Substation Primary Design engineering preparation of SLD, layout, sections, Specifications, RFQ, BOQ, SCF, DSLP, Earthing system, Busbar sizing, Cable engineering for TSS, Auxiliary and RSS
  • Skill on all systems such as AC/DC systems, Stinger systems, Depot, Stray current monitoring, EMC, Third/Fourthg rail, OCS systems used in Railway project.
  • Review contractor shop drawing and testing submittals
  • Understanding on SCADA and PLC Protection Systems Interlocks between stations in a complete line.
  • Understanding of CAD/CAE applications and tools.
  • Add on advantage of experience in Simulation studies

Main Accountabilities:

  • Responsible to support a cross-functional team to successfully complete the engineering and Integration on time, with the objective of maximizing Customer satisfaction.
  • Evaluates, selects and applies standard techniques and procedures to perform engineering assignments. Provides technical support for installation and commissioning activities. Prepares project documentation within one’s scope of deliverables.
  • Individual contributor using prior theoretical learning or knowledge of methods and technologies to execute work assignments using established solutions. 
  • Confirm the engineering is developed, taken into consideration the complete information and all inter discipline checks has been conducted, the results are documented in the project specific storage area.
  • Solves problems that appear during engineering development.
  • Focus on cost-efficient system solutions
  • Report and keep records for all engineering changes. Cooperate with the engineering team and agree on the project specific impacts, caused by the changes.
  • Ensure compliance with Linxon and Client engineering guidelines, standards and quality across the complete engineering process.
  • Creates work plans and cost estimates in own area of responsibility.
  • Contribute to the risk & opportunity register, by communicating observations.
  • Participate at design reviews.
  • Provide input for close out report and lessons learned, and follow/review lessons learned for next projects

Interfaces:

Engineering Team / Project Lead engineer / Engineering Manager:

  • Acts as design authority for the specific engineering disciplines included in the project specific scope of work assigned.
  • Close liaison with equipment suppliers to ensure engineering integrity and best engineering practice is achieved.
  • List, report and address all noted deviations to the engineering specifications, plan and suggest corrective actions

Project Management:

  • Supports LE/managers in issuing claims (new/change in scope of work, cost impact, time impact, risk quantifications, etc.). Provides quality solutions as per customer requirements and delivers within budget and contract. Ensures adherence to safety standards and mitigation of potential risks.

Construction support:

  • Clarifying potential issues or providing solutions to correct engineering errors in cooperation with the LPO Lead Engineer.

Sales:

  • Assists in preparing proposal/presentation of engineering projects (provision of bills of materials, estimated engineering hours, etc.).

Safety:

  • Do not compromise safety standards
  • Contribute actively to the safety by design process.

Supply Chain Management/Suppliers:

  • Collaborates with the Supply Chain function to ensure that technical requirements for equipment or services are communicated and agreed on with potential suppliers. Provides technical evaluation of supplier proposals, and accepts as fit for purpose supplied equipment or services.

Application of knowledge to add value:

  • Demonstrate the interest of continual improvement in the execution of work. Innovative approach of doing tasks are encouraged.

 

General software and analytical skills:

  • Experience in the efficient use of Microsoft Office packages
  • Experience with job specific software packages such as databases and calculation tools etc.
  • 3D CAD or BIM
  • Ability to learn and apply new software
