AtkinsRéalis Transportation Project Delivery Practice (PDP) is the centre of excellence for the delivery of Major Transportation infrastructure projects and combines the best in project management and design management to provide a full suite of services to clients in the public and private sectors.  The team is responsible for delivery of design services across our Strategic Rail, Strategic Highways and Local Transport Markets.   

We have several exciting vacancies within the Strategic Highways and Local Transport team within PDP and are seeking to recruit Project Managers to join our Project Delivery Practice based in Epsom, Birmingham or Manchester. This is an exciting opportunity for Project Managers looking to lead the successful delivery of projects in the respective regions, influence the growth and development of the project management team and progress into a Senior Project Manager role.

This is an excellent opportunity for talented individuals who want to take the next step in their career with responsibility for projects from inception through to completion. The position is likely to combine agile working from any of our offices across the UK with time at client offices and sites. 

Our need to recruit comes from the success of our Transportation division and our pipeline and expected growth across the United Kingdom.

The project managers in this team directly influence the lives of people across the UK by improving their passenger experience, making their journeys better and by making the country a greener place to live. Our transportation portfolio is growing, and we have a wide client base including HS2, Highways England, Network Rail and Local Authorities as well as several Principal Contractors.

Working with the support of the wider engineering teams, you will be responsible for delivering schemes to budget and schedule and quality standards and be the main point of contact with our clients on these projects.

Responsibilities: 

  • Responsible for the safe delivery of the project to agreed schedule, budget, scope, and quality and is responsible for the safety and welfare of staff working on the project.
  • Ensure safety is prioritised throughout delivery.
  • Responsibility for ensuring that appropriate resources are appointed to deliver the project and that suitable control measures are in place to monitor and manage delivery.
  • Responsible for the successful technical and commercial delivery of the project in accordance with AtkinsRéalis governance requirements.
  • Providing bid phase support as a Bid Manager on medium to small projects
  • Delivery of project management and contract administration through the project life cycle. 
  • Leading the project team – building, motivating, maintaining, coaching, guiding, and developing the team. 
  • Deliver governance arrangements for projects within corporate and business policies, directives, guidance, and procedures to ensure a robust outcome. 
  • Management of Risk (and Opportunity) for the project from inception through to completion. 
  • Manage approved sub-contractor procurement processes. 

Requirements: 

  • You are likely to have over some years of multi-disciplinary infrastructure project delivery experience. Ideally with a Project Management/Engineering background, with design management, project management and contract administration experience within the Highways and/or Local Transport market sector.
  • Experience of undertaking accountable Project Manager roles on multidisciplinary design projects.
  • Degree qualified (degree or HNC) - desirable
  • Understands and has experience in deploying various forms of construction contract, in particular NEC3 or 4 and/or bespoke forms of contract. 
  • Experience of working with National Highways and Principal Contractors - desirable
  • Understanding of National Highways Standards
  • Understanding of Digital Tools, Common Data Environments and BIM. 
  • Current driving licence.
