AtkinsRéalis is in search of a Protection and Control Engineer to work as a part of our Substation Engineering team.

This role will be based in Toronto, ON.

Your role within the Team:

  • Develop Relay One Line Diagrams including selection of suitable IEDs/protection system to protect different elements of the Substation.
  • Prepare conceptual and detail Protection, Control and Metering engineering for assigned Transmission and Distribution Substation projects.
  • Prepare Basis of Memorandum (Protection and Control philosophy) for Protection and Control system as required
  • Perform Instrument Transformers sizing calculations, DC System sizing Calculations
  • Develop protection panel/rack front layout to show the device/equipment mounting
  • Prepare performance specifications for Protection, Control, Metering devices, when not defined by the client.
  • Develop detailed Bill of material for the Protection, Control and Metering devices with detailed ordering code.
  • Develop Control room layout drawing.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • A degree in Electrical Engineering from a recognized Institution.
  • A minimum of 10 -12 years of experience after graduation as Senior Protection and Control Engineer in the field of High Voltage Substations is considered to have gained the required experience for the position.
  • P. Eng registration with PEO or equivalent required.
  • Good knowledge of North American codes and standards such as CSA, NEC, IEEE, Reg 22/04.
  • Experience in working with client engineers in client offices is an asset.
  • Experience on ETAP software required; MathCAD and ASPEN considered an asset.
  • Experience in using IED manufacturer’s (such SEL, GE-Multilin, Siemens, ABB etc.) software to prepare set files.
