AtkinsRéalis seeks an energetic and highly motivated technical manager to join our Denver, CO & Kansas City / Overland Park, KS Water Resources Group as a Regional FEMA Lead Water Resources Engineer.

How will you contribute to the team?

A strong candidate for this role will possess full competency in conventional water resources engineering work, bring a broad understanding of drainage and storm water concepts and have proven leadership skills. This individual must be competent in the project management of FEMA, CTP, PTS, floodplain and riverine modeling, hydraulic riverine modeling for design projects, and mapping projects with an emphasis on hydrologic & hydraulic analyses and planning methods and techniques. The ideal candidate can manage multiple projects and a multi-faceted team concurrently. Project work will include storm water, hydrologic & hydraulic analysis, FEMA reviews, and planning projects. Successful candidates will provide technical oversight to junior and senior staff and work collaboratively with other departments to complete projects in a timely manner. The candidate will also assist in preparing project proposals and creating and delivering presentations to existing and potential clients. Candidates are expected to work independently while making sound engineering decisions, develop planning documents, and prepare technical reports.

Job Duties

  • This individual would serve as a Technical Manager for FEMA water resources teams in Colorado and Kansas, while directing and supporting work in Missouri.
  • The ideal candidate can manage multiple projects.
  • The candidate will also assist in proposal preparation and in developing as well as performing client presentations.
  • May serve as a technical lead on projects with direct oversight of design staff.
  • The candidate may conduct contract negotiations with clients and sub-consultants.
  • Develop and maintain key client relationships with local and regional water clients.
  • Identify opportunities to promote value proposals.
  • Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary environment across teams and Practices to ensure successful delivery of projects.
  • A strong candidate will be able to independently make sound preliminary engineering decisions, develop design plans, write design specifications, and prepare technical reports.
  • Would be responsible for schedules, billings reports, conducts, and coordination of detailed phases of the engineering work as part of a major project or in a total project of moderate scope.
  • Performs hydrology & hydraulics planning, mapping, and / or reviews the work of junior and senior engineers.
  • Works with external clients at progress meetings and throughout project to meet client needs, project schedules, goals, and deadlines.
  • Prepares cost and man-hour estimates, job budgets, and schedules.
  • Performs quality control and guidance of junior and senior staff related to hydrologic & hydraulic analyses.
  • Prepares or oversees the preparation of hydrologic & hydraulic models and modeling reports and submits them for approval.
  • Performs such other duties as the supervisor may from time to time deem necessary.
  • Excellent technical writing, computer, and communications skills.
  • Direct project team compliance with contract terms, schedule, budget, and quality objectives
  • Function as a project lead and mentor to project teams.

What will you contribute?

  • B.S. or M.S. in Engineering. M.S. or graduate level technical coursework preferred.
  • Proficiency in hydrology, hydraulics, and ArcGIS is required.
  • Ten to fifteen years of technical experience preferred. Candidates interested in group leadership should have 15 years or more of experience.
  • Active in Professional Organizations preferred (i.e., ASCE, ASFPM, CASFM, etc.).

Professional Registrations

  • P.E. license in Colorado, Kansas, Missouri, and / or Nebraska is required or must be able to be obtained within six months.
  • CFM preferred or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire.

Salary Range : $107K - $178K
