AtkinsRéalis’ Transmission, Distribution and Renewables team in Canada is looking for a SCADA Engineer to join their team in British Columbia. As such, you will be involved in a multidisciplinary team in the realization of projects ranging from feasibility studies to construction, testing and commissioning support. Helping clients evolve ageing infrastructure, plan for grid integration, and build assets that meet their needs today and into the future.

Your role within the team

As a member of our Transmission, Distribution and Renewables team, you will:

  • Developing and integrating SCADA, PLC, and HMI solutions for our clients.

  • Support the Project Manager with fulfilling the needs of our clients by providing timely, precise, appropriate, and thorough service.

  • Automation and SCADA designs from conceptual to implementation stage for Transmission, Distribution and Generating stations.

  • Preparation of SCADA and control system architecture, designs, and integration of various technologies.

  • Design and integrate Ethernet, serial data networks, and preparation of panel layouts, schematics, and diagrams.

  • Programming of automation, HMI, PLC, IEDs, ION meters, RTU devices, lab-testing and commissioning of devices and SCADA network on site.

  • Perform site visits, commissioning support and represent the Company at project design and construction meetings and work collaboratively with other team members to deliver projects.

  • Perform design work in accordance with the Canadian Electrical Code and client’s standards.

The ideal candidate

  • Holds a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or equivalent;

  • Is registered with EGBC or eligible for registration;

  • Has 0-2 years of relevant experience and knowledge of electricity, electronics, IT, and computers;

  • Is familiar with the SCADA and Automation systems/equipment such as: SEL Automation Controllers (RTAC, DPAC, Gateway), SEL Applications (AcSELerator RTAC, QuickSet, Diagram Builder), GE RTUs: D25/D20/D400 and I/O Modules, GE Applications: ConfigPro and SGConfig, Schneider PLCs; Modicon, Proface HMI & GP-Pro EX Application, ASAT DAPStudio HMI Application, and Survalent HMI Application;

  • Is familiar with Industrial Communication Protocols and Standards, such as: DNP3, MODBUS, IEC 61850, 61131-3, NERC-CIP;

  • Must be willing to learn new technologies and programming of devices;

  • Fluent in English with excellent written and oral communication.

Assets:

  • Familiarity with typical electrical designs for power system, Protection & Control, PLCs, communications, networking and IT

  • Has experience with AutoCAD and knowledge and application of the Canadian electrical code

  • Has previous design work experience in T&D and or Generation sector

Expected compensation for this role is (between Pay Range $58,300 - $97,100 annually).  Base salaries are determined according to several parameters like skills, experience, and potential impact on the role. Internal and external competitiveness are also taken into account in our offers.
