Senior Civil Municipal Engineer

SNC-Lavalin is seeking qualified and experienced personnel in the Ottawa region to carry out local, national and international mandates relating to the execution and development of the company’s engineering activities.

The Infrastructure Engineering division is currently looking for Senior Civil/Municipal Engineers for its National Capital Region office. A land development engineering background is also desirable.

Responsibilities

• Providing project engineering and technical expertise in planning (modeling), asset management, environmental assessment, and design services of civil/municipal infrastructure including site plans, gradings, roads, storm and sanitary systems, and water distribution systems
• Preparation of contract language and special provisions, cost estimates, and tender documents for above works
• Liaising with clients, consultants, regulatory and utility agencies, and contractors
• Leading and participating business development initiatives; Preparation of proposals for civil and municipal works RFPs
• Managing of civil/municipal engineering projects including financial controls, project management, and client relationship
• Provision of mentorship to junior engineers, technicians and technologists

General Qualifications

• University degree in Civil Engineering from a recognized institution
• Professional Engineers in Ontario/ and or Member of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Quebec (OIQ)
• Minimum 10 years of experience in civil/municipal engineering field
• Experience with typical commercially available modeling software is an asset
• Experience with various approvals from municipalities, MOECP, MTO, NCC and conservation authorities
• Bilingualism (French and English, written and spoken) an asset.

Stream A:

• In-depth understanding of large infrastructure engineering project bidding and execution process
• Experience in working in a multi-disciplinary environment and providing civil discipline leadership 
• Extensive experience in project coordination

Stream B:

• Civil/Municipal/Land Development engineering market knowledge of the National Capital Region and Eastern Ontario
• Experience of expanding business opportunities, developing client relationships and leading project pursuits.
