Atkins North America Inc. seeks a Senior Engineer I: Apply standard engineering practices and techniques to assigned projects. Assist in the planning, design, and production of engineering drawings. Carry out specific assignments in preparing and assembling specifications. Conduct transportation engineering investigations & planning, including collection & analysis of data using established procedures, performance of calculations, and evaluation of feasibility of alternate solutions. Prepare assigned sections of reports under supervision of more experienced professionals. Participate on projects involving construction activities by reviewing shop drawings for conformity with easily interpreted specifications. Assist in recordkeeping and generation of progress reports. Observe construction procedures & collect samples for quality control testing. Perform transportation structure design & analysis, researching the feasibility of alternative design approaches, site conditions, and/or regulatory agency specifications or regulations. Prepare material for reports and permit applications, gathering information, writing outlines, and/or preparing work progression documents & graphic presentations. Perform field observations of construction where appropriate. Req’s: Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering and 2 years experience in the job offered or related occupation. Minimum 2 years experience as engineer on large-scale infrastructure projects including bridge design. Must have at least 2 years documented experience in steel bridge analysis and design and interchange design for highway projects. 2 years experience in steel bridge 3D finite element analysis & design. Professional Engineering License required. Domestic and International Travel, including site visits and assignments, req’d approx. 15% of time.  Location:  Austin, TX.
