Purpose

The role of Senior GIS Consultant is an exciting and rewarding opportunity for the right person to gain experience implementing GIS solutions across multiple disciplines and through all parts of a project’s life cycle. The successful candidate will work out of their local Atkins office or from home. This position would suit someone who has experience of leading small GIS project teams, who has the technical skills to contribute on larger projects.

Responsibilities

  • Manage small GIS project teams working on large infrastructure projects

  • Technical expert role for large infrastructure projects

  • Work within a BIM project environment

  • Represent the UK Geospatial team and provide innovative GIS solutions to internal Atkins disciplines and external clients

  • Sell the benefits of GIS in a multi-disciplinary environment

  • Identify and develop business opportunities by providing client focused GIS solutions

  • Manage own productivity

What you can bring?

Essential

  • Either a degree qualification in GIS or a related field and relevant years of work experience, or proven experience using GIS software

  • Experience of managing small successful GIS project teams and delivering GIS support in multi-disciplinary project environments

  • Proven experience of delivering high quality outputs to deadlines within pressurised environments

  • Expert knowledge of ArcGIS Desktop 10x and its extensions

  • Competent in the use of FME for process automation and data conversion

  • Have a strong work ethic and excellent problem-solving skills

  • Able to communicate the benefits of GIS internally

  • Excellent communication skills in written and spoken English

  • Able to innovate when providing GIS solutions to clients

  • Holds or is able to attain security clearance

Desirable

  • Experience of working in a multi-disciplinary engineering consultancy

  • Experience of providing information management advice or solutions to multi-disciplinary projects

  • Experience deploying and managing PostGIS

  • Experience of working with / controlling a large number of evolving datasets

  • Expert knowledge of data interoperability, in particular using CAD derived data within a GIS environment, knowledge of AutoCAD or Microstation would be beneficial

  • Experience in using ArcOnline

  • Experience of setting up ESRI Collector surveys

  • Experience creating PowerBi dashboards

  • ArcServer configuration (not development)
