The Senior Network Operations Engineer position is a hands-on role to manage, monitor and support the network infrastructure and services. Working within the Network Operations Team you will provide support with resolving incidents, implementing customer requests, delivering on projects, proposing service improvements, and mentoring more junior members of the team

This role will suit an individual who has 8 or more years’ experience within a 2nd or 3rd line support environment and has proven experience troubleshooting network related issues within a large organisation. While they are expected to have a minimum of CCNP certification it is equally important that they have a passion for networking.

Key Deliverables/Responsibilities

Respond quickly and effectively to network issues, incidents, and outages
Resolving 3rd line network related incident support calls
Provide mentoring to develop more junior members of the team
Evaluating network change requests
Perform system maintenance and upgrade tasks
Use and configure network monitoring tools to identify and address issues before service degradation occurs
Maintain technical documentation, network diagrams, processes, and procedures
Action tickets in the Network Operations Team’s queues in accordance with company-defined best practice
Participate in 24 x 7 out-of-hours rota as required
Delivery of BAU project work and user requests
Evaluating network performance issues
Keep abreast of developments in networking and network monitoring
Identifying opportunities for service improvement via automation or procedural change

Experience Required

Essential Technical Requirements

To be successful in this role we would expect you to have in-depth industry experience with:

Cisco Catalyst and Nexus switching technologies
Cisco ASR and ISR routing platforms
BGP and OSPF
Wireless LAN technologies
Working within a helpdesk / support environment, dealing with customer issues through to resolution
Excellent troubleshooting skills
Knowledge of monitoring & reporting systems
You must also be able to demonstrate hands-on experience with:
WAN optimisation technologies
Quality of Service functionality
SD-WAN technologies

Cisco ISE
Microsoft NPS

Behavioural Competencies

Proven experience of delivering process efficiencies and improvements
Clear and fluent English (both verbal and written)
Ability to build and maintain efficient working relationships with remote teams
Demonstrate ability to take ownership of and accountability for relevant products and services
Ability to plan, prioritise and complete your own work, whilst remaining a team player

Willingness to engage with and work in other technologies
