Senior/Principal Active Travel Consultant

This role offers the opportunity to lead active travel projects across Wales and South West England for our key national and local government clients.  Alongside delivering projects you’ll have the opportunity to develop future work opportunities as well as developing other team members.

You’ll be based at either our Cardiff or Bristol office but with some travel to other Atkins locations within the region to ensure you can deliver value for our clients.

Key responsibilities

•Leading technical delivery of travel engineering projects and key technical input into wider multi-disciplinary projects locally, nationally and internationally.

•Technical skills development of staff within the team to support their progression.

•Project management and delivery.

•Act as Technical Guide and support Technical Reviewer on projects.

•Maintaining and developing excellent client relationships.

Key requirements

•BEng, MEng or MSc Degree or equivalent.

•Ability to undertake (and experience of) GG 142 Assessments and Reviews as Lead Assessor.

•Membership of relevant technical institutions – e.g. ICE, CIHT, CILT etc.

•Extensive experience of working with our key clients, e.g. Local Authorities, Highways England, SWTRA, Welsh Government, Developers and/or major Contractors.

•Demonstrable experience of managing project delivery of active travel projects.

•Sound understanding of the latest travel infrastructure standards and guidance documents.

•Experience of active travel engineering input into motorway and trunk road highway schemes.

•The ability to be flexible in terms of project delivery and working locations.

•Ability to manage and support multiple stakeholder and client relationships.

•A good understanding of the UK travel market and geography.
