We need experienced hydraulic engineers to join our Design & Advanced Technology Practice (D&AT) practice which works for most UK water/wastewater utilities, contractors, and industrial clients across the UK and abroad. Our expertise covers the entire life cycle of projects from feasibility, planning, investigation, design and supervision of new assets, to assessment, repair, modification and rehabilitation of existing ones. We enjoy successful partnerships with our clients, other consultants, and contractors from the private and public sector, delivering high profile infrastructure projects. The team undertake hydraulic analysis and design of water/wastewater treatment plants and transfer pipelines for a variety of UK and International Clients. The team also provide specialist hydraulic advice and input into other industry sectors. Our collaborative approach ensures the projects we deliver meet our client’s needs in a sensitive and sustainable way. We embrace new technologies to design innovative outcomes that complement the environment and communities in which they reside; locally, nationally, and globally.

YOUR PURPOSE

  • Proficiency in open channel flow and transient analysis
  • Lead the hydraulic input in teams delivering schemes on a large range of projects from individual large scale ‘mega-projects’ to multiple projects within frameworks
  • Provide technical leadership, acting as a reviewer and subject matter expert for hydraulics and surge analysis both in the UK and Internationally.
  • Prepare briefs, scopes of works, and input into bid proposals
  • Inspire and support the technical development of staff within the Practice team.
  • Successfully manage time and budgets to key project milestones and programmes.
  • Work closely with teams in the UK and overseas to deliver integrated design solutions.
  • Adhere to quality assurance standards in design.
  • Support bids and business development

WHAT YOU CAN BRING

  • Chartered Engineer (ICE, CIWEM, IMechE, IChemE)
  • Demonstrable proficiency in open channel flow/treatment plant hydraulics or transient analyssi
  • An established industry profile in the field of hydraulic engineering
  • Ability to identify and employ innovation in hydraulic design
  • Strong collaborative and network behaviours to interface with other disciplines and businesses.
  • Experience in design delivery, including coordinating with other disciplines in multidisciplinary design
  • Experience of working in multi-discipline, geographically diverse, design teams
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and a pragmatic, practical mind.
  • Take accountability and responsibility for work carried out by the individual or the team.
  • Work well with and form relationships with others, including the client team, other disciplines, and contractors at all levels (junior to senior) inside and outside the business.
  • Experience working with and negotiating with key project stakeholders, including regulatory, statutory, and local bodies.
  • Produce designs following CDM regulations.
  • Experience of carbon accounting tools/CFD/physical model studies
  • Digitally proficient and able to contribute to the development of digital tools
