We are hiring! AtkinsRéalis is seeking a Senior Environmental Planner/Scientist to join our Environmental Sciences/Planning group based out of our Orlando, FL office. This position will support the Florida’s Turnpike Enterprise (FTE) General Engineering Consultant (GEC) Program, working as an “extension of staff” in the client’s office in Ocoee, FL (metro Orlando area). This position will provide career growth opportunities through support of FTE toll road, and express / managed lanes toll road infrastructure projects. If you have the desire to solve challenges on a variety of transportation infrastructure projects across Florida, this position is for you. The Senior position will help with day-to-day activities fully embedded in the client’s offices delivering a portfolio of transportation projects. This role will exercise technical expertise and provide project assistance for the transportation focused client in central and south Florida.

This position offers a work schedule of 4 days/week in-office, and one day telework.

How will you contribute to the team?

  • Perform environmental project tasks for assigned transportation projects related to all required environmental documentation (NEPA, PD&E, Cultural Resources, Noise, wetlands, listed species or environmental permitting), prioritized by the client’s work program; 

  • Perform evaluation of impacts from transportation projects on the natural and human environment; must have experience in at least one area (traffic noise, PD&E/NEPA, cultural resources, and/or ecology/wetlands permitting); 

  • Coordinate with other consultant’s design professionals and overall project team for accurate depiction of the natural and human environment on project reports, construction plans and to identify opportunities for avoiding and minimizing potential impacts; 

  • Perform field investigations of project sites;

  • Document, analyze, and interpret quantitative and qualitative data on projects of varying complexity and size;

  • Prepare documentation and technical reports and coordinate with state and federal agencies. 

What will you contribute?

  • B.S./B.A. or M.S. in a field of Planning, Sciences, or other relevant degree.

  • This level may be achieved by Planners/Scientists with minimum seven years' experience since Bachelor's degree, or six years' experience with Master's degree; typical incumbent has eight to ten years' experience.

  • Aptitude for maintaining a professional attitude and attention to detail while working alone and within a team environment; 

  • Excellent technical writing and verbal communication skills with clients and colleagues; 

  • Strong organizational, task and time management, deductive reasoning, and analytical skills; 

  • Proficiency with the MS Office suite of software and software programs with candidate’s field of expertise.
