Provide assistance to senior technical professional or technical manager by coordinating or performing a variety of technical duties related to existing utilities, adjustments, relocations, proposed corridors per project requirements. Oversee utility coordination projects and correspondence with client, utility owners, and key stakeholders.

How will you contribute to the team?

  • Request/ Review records and asbuilt drawings for existing utilities.
  • Oversee and coordinate project work; interpret plans & schedules to anticipate conflicts, review cost estimates, coordinate and conduct meetings with affected parties, and oversee inspection and documentation of project work.
  • Assist in the coordination and tracking of project submittals.
  • Review utility relocation design plans from utility owners.
  • Assist in the preparation of utility agreements and compliance with Utility Accommodation Rules.
  • Verify the completion of utility relocations; coordinate with utility owner's consultant and contractor.
  • Thorough understanding of TxDOT's Utility procedures and rules

Scope:

Complexity (Variety or uniqueness of tasks; relative difficulty or importance of work performed; size of unit supported, etc.):

  • Performs work which involves diversified technical duties of a professional level, typically requiring specialized skills, experience, and/or academic training, in support of assigned projects.

Decision-making (Supervision received; independent judgment or initiative; consequence of error):

  • Works under the supervision of a technical professional or other technical/project manager, as required by position and assigned responsibilities, consistently exercising discretion and independent judgment in the performance of professional-level technical duties.

Work direction given to others (Titles and number of personnel; type of direction given):

  • Coordinates with, guides and/or reviews the work of junior professionals, technicians, and others who assist in specific assignments.

What will you contribute?

Education and experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field, plus continued education through workshops, seminars, and related courses plus ten years of experience in engineering or related technical professional activities, exhibiting familiarity with related computer programs and applicable permitting work.

Special skills:

  • Good technical writing, analytical ability, and computer skills.
