Atkins seeks an energetic and highly motivated self-starter to join our Henderson, NV Traffic Planning Group as a Sr. Traffic Operations Engineer.

MAJOR FUNCTION/ROLE

Atkins is looking for an experienced and talented individual to join our Las Vegas transportation planning team to provide traffic operations modeling, safety, and transportation planning. We are a growing practice working on a diverse range of high-profile projects including a transportation plan for the new Raiders Stadium. We're looking for an individual to help deliver projects for local, regional, and key national clients.

We have a strong forward-looking workload with major clients including the City of Las Vegas, RTC of Southern Nevada, and the Nevada Department of Transportation. Our teams are currently delivering exciting and nationally important infrastructure projects. They are developing new technical solutions to meet the challenges and opportunities provided by Intelligent Mobility including the application of mobile phone data and other sources of 'big data.'

We analyze and provide modeling services related to a range of transportation including road investment, bus rapid transit, sustainable solutions and transportation technology projects. Our projects range from small to big-hitting giving opportunities to suit everyone. Looking at complex projects from every angle, you'll help our customers to find the best solutions to their transportation challenges. The role may involve leading work to identify and analyze the impacts of alternatives. You will play a leading role in our excellent team and continue to develop your skills through experience, working on the range of our existing projects, in combination with exceptional formal training opportunities.

JOB DUTIES
  • Performs work that involves Traffic Engineering and Transportation Planning practice but may include a variety of complex features such as stakeholder management, alternatives analysis, modeling traffic simulation, safety analysis or difficult coordination requirements.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • B.S. or M.S. in Engineering. This level may be achieved by Engineers with seven years' experience since B.S.; six years of experience since M.S. Incumbents typically has ten to fourteen years of experience.

SPECIAL SKILLS
  • Good technical writing, computer and communications skills. May be eligible to receive project management training.
  • Desired skills include experience with traffic simulation software (Synchro, VISSIM, etc.) and safety analysis.

PROFESSIONAL REGISTRATIONS
  • P.E. license is required.
