We are hiring! Atkins is seeking a Tolls Project Director to join our Dallas, TX. office.

Under direction, develops concepts and leads teams in Toll Systems, Payment systems, implementation and operations.  Applies expert knowledge of leading-edge information and communication technologies, planning, design, and operation of Toll back-office systems. Carries out job functions within project-oriented multidisciplinary teams of Toll professionals and directs interaction with clients within the context of project progress meetings, design reviews, operations, and project production and deployment.

How will you contribute to the team?

  • Manage IT systems' projects deliverables, schedules, milestones, and contracts.
  • Assignments require leading the investigation of a large number of variables and the development of novel solutions to back office systems. Duties usually include the following:
  • Develops guidelines for the application of state-of-art Toll system technologies and Toll operations principles to programs and projects.
  • Develops Toll design concepts and solutions to Toll problems, including plans and criteria for new projects.
  • Oversees changes or improvements to plans and programs.
  • Manages the evaluation of alternative approaches, technology capabilities, previous experience with Toll system deployments, cost benefits, and client/regulatory agency specifications, and recommends cost-effective solutions.
  • Develops and agrees on outline deliverables. Delivers presentations, communicates concepts and deliverables to clients, and conducts quality control checks.
  • May perform other such duties as the supervisor may from time to time deem necessary.

What will you contribute?

  • B.S. degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Information Technology, or any other related field. Toll-related Master's degree/MBA can substitute for one year of experience.
  • This level may be achieved by candidates with fifteen (15) years’ experience since Bachelor's or fourteen (14) years since Master's. Relevant work experience would provide exposure to information and communication technologies, toll operations, and/or intelligent transportation systems (ITS), including fiber-optic communication design, video systems, computer hardware & software, toll collection systems and sub-systems, toll infrastructure, electronic payment, or traffic management.
  • Without a degree, a minimum of twenty-one (21) years of relevant experience is required.
  • Detailed understanding of the practical design and deployment of a wide range of information, and toll operations technologies, video/violations-processing systems/engineering, toll collection systems and sub-systems, electronic payment, toll infrastructure, customer service center or traffic management.
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office products, including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Access is required. Familiarity with the use of Microsoft Outlook or equivalent e-mail program is desired.
  • Strong technical writing, analytical and communication skills essential, including ability to present concepts verbally. Proven ability to lead analyst teams successfully.
  • Completion of relevant Toll Training and Project Management Programs within the first 24 months of employment is highly desirable.
