SNC-Lavalin Inc., Environment & Geoscience (E&G) team in Burnaby, BC is seeking a Water Engineer to play a key role in supporting our business in Western Canada. The ideal candidate will have an aptitude to learn and grow their skill set with a motivated team.

Responsibilities:

As part of their job, the Water Resources Engineer can be expected to:

  • Assist with proposals in response to client requests for expertise, develop relationships with clients that are based on knowledge, experience and trust;
  • Support specialty teams through projects in Water Resources Engineering and Risk assessments;
  • Work with the larger pool of resources in SNC-Lavalin to expand the scope of services offered;
  • Design and support technical field studies;
  • Participate in the study and mitigation of natural disasters including floods;
  • Assist with the preparation of  maps, diagrams, cross-sections and reports from field and office studies;

Qualifications:

  • Minimum Bachelor's degree from a relevant Geoscience/Engineering program with specific education, training or experience in water or hydrodynamics
  • Excellent English verbal, written skills and the ability to produce reports and proposals
  • Working knowledge of ArcGIS, or other geospatial software is an asset
  • Ability to work for periods of time away from home (including out of country) and rustic conditions
  • Ability to register with the Association of Professional Engineers in Canada
  • Valid class 5 BC driver’s license

Desirable skills:

Proficient at statistical and analytical methods of analysis

Experience using specialized equipment or software (LiDAR, Geophysical tools, Satellite image interpretation software, GIS software, survey equipment, geological or geotechnical modeling software etc…) an asset
