What’s your role at Atkins – what areas do you recruit for? I am a Graduate Recruitment Advisor based in the Early Career’s Recruitment Team and the business area I currently lead on is Transportation.
Tell us a little bit about your background After completing my degree at university, I worked as an Account Manager for an Energy Consultancy for two years, however, since then my focus has been in Early Career’s Recruitment. As a team we manage graduate, apprentice and placement roles. I’ve worked for Atkins for just under seven years now and have managed graduate recruitment for a number of business areas but my focus is now within transportation.
What’s the best thing about your job? I love meeting new people every day when I run graduate assessment centres all over the UK. Each day brings its own challenges and no day is ever boring! Interacting with the business and helping them deliver their early career’s recruitment objectives is very rewarding. I love going back to the various offices and seeing how graduates I recruited a year or so ago have developed. I also enjoy being part of an amazing team that are passionate about early career’s recruitment and aim to do their very best each academic intake.
What makes a good day at work? A good day for me would be contacting some of my candidates to let them know the good news! That they are being offered a role after attending an assessment centre with us! For most this is their first role outside of education and it’s so rewarding to be a part of that.
Tell us something you love about working at Atkins. The team I work with have become some of my closest friends and everyone has been very supportive throughout my journey with Atkins. There’s always new people joining to make friends with and a lot going on socially – whether it’s through sports and social clubs or just after work drinks!
What would you say to someone thinking of joining Atkins? Don’t hesitate! Atkins can offer you a great career with lots of opportunities should you wish to take them! It’s a great place to work and everyone is here to make your time at work more enjoyable. As Atkins operates in many sectors there’s always opportunities to apply for different roles and really broaden your experience!
