Can you briefly describe your role and what you do?
I am a Graduate Transport Planner in the Cambridge Office. I work with both private and public sector clients to provide transport consultancy services to support developments. I have also been involved in behavioural change projects for Local Authority clients with the aim of encouraging a shift towards sustainable modes of travel.
What projects have you worked on during the graduate development programme?
I have worked on a variety of projects whilst on the GDP which consist of Transport Assessments for Schools, Public Transport Interchanges and Housing Developments. I have also been involved in Cambridge City Deal Projects which included a three-month secondment to Cambridgeshire County Council in order to provide project management support on a High Quality Public Transport scheme. Working on these projects has allowed me to develop my client and public engagement skills whilst learning more about the wider planning process. I have also begun to take on more responsibility with the day to day management of projects.
What do you do outside of the graduate development programme?
For the last 2 years I have been a representative on the Transportation Graduate Forum. This has provided me with the opportunity to engage with the Senior Leadership Team and graduates across the country and really make a difference to the graduate experience within Transportation through the implementation of initiatives, including the Management Shadowing Scheme.
