Insights Linxon energizes Dubai’s Sanad substation

The 132 / 11 kV substation built by Linxon for the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) is now operational.

Linxon’s engineering of the Sanad substation, located in the rapidly developing Jebel Ali Port area, forms part of Dubai’s expansion of its energy network and is key to meeting both current and future energy demands. The total number of transmission substations across Dubai reached 368 by mid-2023, with an additional twenty-five 132 kV substations under construction.

“The project marks a milestone for Linxon Gulf,” said Hassan Merhi, Managing Director of Linxon Middle East & Africa. “It introduces the use of precast structures, significantly reducing construction time. We’re delighted to continue our collaboration with DEWA, offering them both our engineering and sustainability expertise.”

Linxon’s involvement comprised a complete engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning solution. Key features were added, reflecting both Linxon’s and DEWA’s commitment to sustainability. These include a hybrid solar power system powering offices on site and the inclusion of employee recreational facilities.

Linxon offers turnkey solutions incorporating design, manufacture, supply, delivery, installation and commissioning of established Hitachi Energy power products. The company is active within the United Arab Emirates and has notably also worked on the Abraj 132 / 11 kV substation being commissioned in the Business Bay area of Dubai.
