Our Infrastructure Division is supporting many of the major infrastructure programmes across the UK as well as major international projects. Our focus is to deliver effective outcomes by optimising the performance of both new and existing assets. The Infrastructure Asset Management Practice is a key component of this, enabling us to ensure customers’ outcomes are realised in the projects we undertake as well as delivering bespoke sector-specific solutions to optimise asset performance.

Atkins provides the opportunity to influence some of the most significant infrastructure programmes in the UK as well as develop and implement innovative solutions across the sector.

Our Infrastructure Asset Management practice delivers data-driven solutions as well as providing asset management, regulatory, and technical advice to a range of clients, both in the UK and internationally. We have an opportunity for Business Analysts to join our team and immediately add value to the clients that we are working with. Location of role is Birmingham, Warrington, Leeds, London, Epsom – with hybrid-working supported – with potential home offices including Birmingham, Warrington, Leeds, London, Epsom.

Your purpose:

As a Business Analyst you'll have all the support you need to succeed. Working in a team that uses contemporary and traditional approaches, you'll examine, assess and develop ways to increase the value of our client's output for positive real-world outcomes.  This may include contributing to bids, developing new business propositions or researching potential new markets. We want you to help us grow our business by:

  • Managing and working within multi-disciplinary teams to deliver excellent results for our clients.
  • Analysing processes and operations, using appropriate tools and techniques to identify improvements in accordance with client objectives. This will include workshop facilitation to engage people, gathering inputs to your analysis and sharing ideas and conclusions.
  • Preparing reports and presenting to a range of client stakeholders.
  • Contributing to the development of operational improvement tools, techniques and methods that build capability within our teams.
  • Capturing and recording functional and non-functional requirements and producing process maps to standard notations such as Business Process Modelling Notation (BPMN), and through User Story Mapping.
  • Providing an interface between the business areas and project teams throughout the life cycle.
  • Supporting and mentoring our graduates.

We are looking to develop our Asset Management Systems team and are looking for enthusiastic, client and solution-oriented individuals who are keen to pursue a role in business analysis.

What you can bring?

Ideally you will have a relevant degree or professional qualification (such as BCS CITP status, ISEB Diploma in Business Analysis or IIBA accreditation). Equally, you may have gained relevant BA skills within a complementary, but different role and it would be great if you had demonstrable experience working with clients in a consultancy environment.

Additionally, you will display the following characteristics -

  • You will have experience of agile and/or waterfall delivery.

The Asset Management Systems teamwork with clients to realise the potential of their Asset Management information. Our services include -

  • Asset performance monitoring and benchmarking, including use/development of dashboards and digital tools to drive improved performance.
  • Strategic Planning including development of risk-based decision-making tools and methodologies, and prioritisation.
  • Tactical Planning.
  • Turning Business Plans into reality and delivering outcomes.
  • Assurance and regulatory advice both for UK Water utilities and internationally.
  • Strategic Asset Management advice, including gap analysis and improvement plans against ISO55001/ business process engineering, business plan development.
