We are hiring! The AtkinsRéalis business seeks an energetic and highly motivated Senior Level Scientist/ Ecologist to join our Sciences team as a Team Lead this position is based out of our Orlando, FL office.

This position will lead our Orlando Environmental team and support projects throughout the State of Florida and beyond. You will lead technical execution of ecological projects and participate in business development, and client management activities. This position will be responsible for technical writing, personnel management, project deliverables, quality control, and compliance oversight. This position will work with a team of environmental scientists and engineers to support utility, transportation, port, aviation, water quality, mitigation, civil, and many other types of projects. This position will have the opportunity to work with clients to create innovative concepts to achieve project objectives.

How will you contribute to the team?

  • Execution of PM responsibilities on numerous projects.

  • Develop environmental management strategies.

  • Oversee both junior and senior level staff.

  • Independently interface with clients and regulatory staff to accomplish project directives.

  • Participate in marketing meetings and presentations.

  • Monitor, coordinate and/or provide direction on quality control efforts.

  • Perform work which involves the preparation and completion of field activities, research, and assembly of data from online and print resources, and general services associated with ecological data collection, regulatory permitting and compliance, and reporting.

  • Field activities can include wetland delineation and monitoring, threatened and endangered species surveys and relocations, environmental compliance activities, and aquatic surveys.

What will you contribute?

  • B.S., B.A., M.S., in a field of Science such as Environmental Science, Marine Science, Biology, Ecology, or other related natural science.

  • Demonstrated project management experience for environmental projects such as execution and preparation of scope of work, budgets, schedules, and issue resolution.

  • Lead and participate in projects with large-scale consultation needs with USACE, USFWS and FWC. Agency contacts a plus. Must have a strong understanding of federal, local, and state permitting requirements.  

  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, technical writing, computer and communication skills required.

  • Proven ability to lead business development efforts, develop and maintain client relationships, lead and deliver work.

  • GIS skills strongly desired.

  • NEPA experience desired, including preparation and review.

  • Demonstrated potential to conduct intensive, field-based activities as part of an interdisciplinary team, which may include multi-day travel, long field days, and challenging conditions (e.g., heat, insects, strenuous physical conditions).  

  • Boating experience is a plus, as well as snorkeling and/or SCUBA certification.

  • Professional certifications considered a plus (e.g., PWS, CSE, PMP), but not required.

  • Wildlife observer or handling agent credentials (e.g., gopher tortoise, caracara) also considered a plus, but not required.

  • Position requires driving a company vehicle; incumbent must have valid driver's license and a driving record that meets company policy.

  • Travel will be required, but infrequent (~10%).
