We are seeking an Environmental Project Manager to join our Ontario team.  This position is office/hybrid/or remote work based, focused on projects locally in Ontario while providing support across Canada and internationally where needed.

Your role within the team

The position includes primarily office-based type tasks, with field site visits/audits as required.  To perform this role successfully, the candidate will be responsible for but not limited to the following:

  • Set and maintain project schedules and budgets, including project financial forecasting; makes decisions with respect to overall technical execution of the project; liaise with technical specialists or other senior project managers to ensure the technical integrity of the project.
  • Provide technical expertise for contaminated site investigation and remediation programs. Interprets findings and preparation and/or review of technical reports.
  • Supervision and mentorship of junior professional staff involved in carrying out field programs, ensuring project requirements are communicated and health and safety protocols are adhered to
  • Actively promote Health and Safety programs and culture. Active in business development activities and maintaining client relationships.
  • Participates in the preparation of proposals and cost estimates. Participates in short- and long-range planning.
  • Preparing site assessment reports to meet regulatory and other requirements, identifying potential risk and scope of further action by appropriate stakeholders, if necessary.
  • Communicating results of site assessment to stakeholders such as property owners, responsible party, regulators, the public, etc. via a public consultation or other appropriate communication process.

The ideal candidate 

  • Diploma or Degree from a program with relevant subject matter. Ideal candidate will be registered as a Professional Engineer or Geoscientist in Ontario.
  • Minimum of 8 years of environmental consulting experience with 4+ years of progressive experience encompassing project planning, coordinating and project management with emphasis in the areas of contaminated site assessment and remediation. Demonstrated technical skills in field activities related to Phase I and II Environmental Site Assessments (ESA), including groundwater monitoring and sampling techniques, various drilling techniques, soil sample collection and logging, soil vapour sampling, remedial excavations, spill response and quality assurance / quality control protocols.
  • Demonstrated experience with the interpretation of provincial and federal environmental regulations, with a strong understanding of Ontario legislation investigating various potential contaminants of concerns. Characterizing environmental aspects of site based on interpretation of data collected during site investigation, sampling and analysis (for example, contaminants, their concentration and general extent) determining the need and scope for sampling programs, including environmental indicators, chemicals of concern, and sampling constraints developing  environmental sampling protocols, the frequency and timing of sampling, optimum locations for continuous or discrete sampling, data capture systems, and parameter list for analysis assessing the accuracy and precision of analytical results by applying good practice guidance or established QA/QC methods. interpreting analytical data to identify trends, significant changes from historical patterns, deviations, or evidence of environmental stresses, etc. ensuring site assessment is completed properly and that action plans are developed and implemented to satisfactorily achieve the desired outcomes.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work well in a team environment, including working with colleagues in different geographic regions. Self-motivated, high energy, strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage time and multiple projects appropriately. Strong written and verbal communication skills in the English language. Capable of understanding and appropriately applying prescribed safety and technical protocols.
  • Candidates must possess a G class driver’s license with a clean driving record.
