The UAE’s landmark, Emirates Aluminium Smelter Complex (EMAL), is situated at Khalifa Port Industrial zone in Abu Dhabi. The largest industrial project outside of UAE’S oil and gas sector, EMAL supports the country’s economic diversification agenda. This mega plant is now the largest single-site aluminum smelter in the world, producing 750,000 tons of aluminum a year. It is meeting growing production demands for this lightweight and more environmentally friendly metal.

SNC-Lavalin launched the Welder Community Development program in Secunda, South Africa in August this year. The intensive 1 month program was created to address the shortage of skills identified in the local community and aims to up-skill existing welders and improve their opportunity for employment. Welders are taught how to select, use and care for tools, interpret welding symbols and weld on various grades of steel in all positions that may be encountered on the job.
SNC-Lavalin is pleased to announce that it has been awarded an engineering, procurement and construction management (EPCM) contract from NEXA Resources for the Aripuanã polymetallic project in the state of Mato Grosso, in the Central-West of Brazil.
