GIS Analyst

Atkins seeks an energetic, highly motivated, and detail-oriented self-starter to join our team in Atlanta, GA office as an Entry-Level GIS Analyst I.

 

Major Function/Role:

Under direction, applies full competency in GIS studies related to functional area of assignment. Ideal Candidates will have basic knowledge with geospatial analysis and mapping process with ESRI products.

Job Duties:

Duties may require mastery of specialized techniques, ingenuity and ability to apply analytical approach to the solution of a wide variety of problems. Performs work under supervision according to FEMA specifications and standards.  Specific duties will include:

  • Conduct data gathering, prepare maps, analysis, and metadata for various GIS projects.
  • Inform Team Lead of any issues with receiving required data such as incomplete data or time delays that can’t be rectified by dealing directly the Scientist or Engineer
  • Be involved with all technical discussions and meetings between the PM and client
  • Create, update, and maintain GIS databases according to FEMA specifications.
  • Be responsible for all FEMA submittals related to GIS work (QR1, QR3, QR5)
  • Perform quality control to ensure data integrity.
  • Work with Team Lead to identify GIS data needed to complete the FEMA study.
  • Ensure the quality of the GIS data and mapping per FEMA guidelines.
  • Able to work independently, while use good judgement seeking help when necessary.

How will you contribute?

  • B.A. or B.S. or M.S. in Geography, computer science, or GIS-related environmental discipline commensurate with hiring discipline. 

  • Familiar with GIS technology and ESRI software.

  • Good interpersonal and computer skills and capable of developing technical writing and communication skills.
