Senior Traffic Modeler/Simulation Engineer
SNC Lavalin is looking for a mid to senior level transit planner with strong simulation experience to be located in either our Toronto or Kingston offices. This is an emerging group in our Civil Engineering department and will cover detailed micro simulations through to larger macro scale master planning work and support Transit Oriented Development design.
This is a new position within our simulation group as we expand our capabilities in Ontario. Thus there is flexibility to shape the position description, roles and responsibilities based on your past experience and future goals. This could include establishing and leading a new team and business development activities.
Responsibilities could include:
•Simulation works performed during engineering design stages to aid in design decisions and driving operational efficiencies. This will be a collaborative process with the design engineers and architects.
•Use of simulation to support design optimisation for stations, transit hubs and public spaces
•Supporting operations service optimisation planning for rail and bus operations
•Exploration and implementation of new technologies and processes to optimise process and improve collaboration between teams.
•Coordinate with our team to incorporate new processes to improve our planning and design work - such as GIS platforms, 3D visualization and Virtual/Augmented reality
•Work with our data analytics team in developing our analytic and planning capabilities to support our Operations delivery teams
•Minimum of 10 years’ experience in transportation planning or equivalent field
•Professional Engineering (P.Eng.) License registered in Ontario is required
•Experience in using Legion is a must for this role
•Experience in traffic simulation tools, such as the PTV or Inro suite of tools would be ideal
•Minimum of an Engineering or Science bachelor degree
•Comfortable with technology and the ability to implement new systems and tools to optimise workflow and improve processes
•Commitment to working in a team environment
•Strong written and spoken communication skills as well as the ability to develop and deliver presentations on technical subject matter to non-technical and technical audiences
•Strong interpersonal and relationship skills
•Self-starter with the ability to work with minimal direction
•Travel could be required – mostly within Ontario.
