Insights ADS&T: Exciting jobs available in Manchester right now.

Jo Page has been at Atkins, a member of the AtkinsRéalis Group, for nine years, having joined as a graduate back in 2012. She's a Principal Consultant in Aerospace, Defence, Security & Technology (ADS&T) in the Business Consulting & Transformation practice. In her role, she works with clients to deliver transformational change projects.

Why is it great for ADS&T to be in Manchester?

The Government's Levelling Up agenda means that there are more and more opportunities outside of London. This makes cities like Manchester full of opportunities for career development. Manchester is known for its people and communities rich in talent and diversity of thought and heavily sought after through local recruitment. The whole region has a proud tradition of creativity and innovation. It has seen continuing investment, particularly around technology and digital skills, making it an exciting place to be!

ADS&T is continuing to grow at an exciting pace, and growth in Manchester is key for us. I'm really excited to play a role in that growth, working on exciting projects with clients in the region and helping recruit great new talent into our business. I want to make sure that as we grow, we keep ADS&T's supportive and fun culture.

What career opportunities do the Manchester office offer?

We're recruiting at all levels across several different technical areas, so there's a great wealth of opportunity for a broad range of people.
We have jobs across most of our ADS&T capabilities in Cyber Security, Project & Programme Management, PMO, Business/Data Architecture, Data Science and Business Consulting and Transformation – and much more. The best advice would be to look at our current live vacancies and see what appeals to you. I'm sure there will be something! 

What is working at ADS&T like?

We have great people with a wide variety of skills and experiences. The work we do for our clients is wide-ranging and makes a real difference to the public. It's so rewarding to work with such a diverse selection of people to deliver these important projects. Our culture is also inclusive and supportive. We get the guidance we need throughout every stage in our careers.
 
What's the work like in Manchester?

We have a broad variety of projects to get involved with at Atkins in Manchester. Our current Manchester-based consultants work on projects ranging from digital transformation for government clients to security in aviation. 

Our key clients are in our Security, Intelligence and Government, Critical National Infrastructure and Defence markets. We have a collection of clients we have been trusted partners to for a number of years and new clients who value our fresh perspectives.

How will my work make a difference?

Manchester is a key focus area of growth and new development for our clients. Their plans to continually expand and establish themselves in the city mean the scope and breadth of work we're exposed to will only increase. Ultimately the work we do for these clients keeps the world moving forward. We're also big on expertise but not on hierarchy. So, you'll be trusted with more direct responsibility for your projects faster.

What does the team do when not at work?

We really value our colleagues and recognize the importance of thriving together and fostering the inclusive culture ADS&T is known for. In Manchester, we're making sure that we grow together in a collaborative and supportive way. 

Our city-centre office on New York Street has a great location too. It's close to some of Manchester's best restaurants and nightlife and easily accessible from major train stations. So the team really enjoys organizing regular socials to get to know each other better.
 
As a newcomer to Manchester, what are your first impressions?

I've recently moved from London to Manchester and I’m already enjoying getting to know the city better. Manchester is known for its community spirit and lively personality, with so much to see and do. It has an incredibly vibrant culture, and there's a lot to keep me entertained here I'm discovering!
