Join our Nuclear & Power Division, as a Principal Civil or Structural Engineer and play a pivotal role, creating spaces and places that matter. We've been in the sector for over 50 years and delivered over 7 million work hours, which makes us the most prominent nuclear new-build organisation in the UK. In this highly technical role, you'll lead from end-to-end on a broad range of projects, with plenty of opportunities to challenge yourself and support the development of your peers.
Your purpose:
Are you a principal civil-structural engineer with outstanding interpersonal skills who thrives on owning exciting projects and has interest in the Nuclear sector? If so, then we want to hear from you.
We are looking for principle (associate) civil-structural engineers to lead our growing Civil and Structural team in Epsom to support a wide range of nuclear projects (from Hinkley Point C to fusion research projects!). You will be working closely with our clients, completing exciting site secondments or winning and taking ownership of complex multidisciplinary projects in-house. This is an exciting time in the Nuclear Industry with large projects such as Hinkley Point C due to start commissioning soon, Sizewell C and other Net Zero and nuclear projects in the pipeline.
We are also closely involved in nuclear generation and decommissioning markets, focusing on maintenance and life extension of existing generating power stations as well as the safe dismantling of redundant power stations. These offer unique opportunities benefitting from an innovative mindset achieved using your technical and practical leadership skillset.
You will be instrumental in owning and delivering exciting, varied packages of work, interfacing with other engineering disciplines, whilst showing efficiency in your teams design solutions including use of value engineering and our ‘best in- class’ digital solutions such as virtual reality.
What you can bring?
Are you an experienced chartered engineer and possible ‘subject matter expert’ looking to apply your engineering expertise in the nuclear industry and invigorate your career? Are you able to direct complex projects by motivating a multidisciplinary team, underpinned by a strong technical base, strong stakeholder engagement skills and a drive to collaborate with clients and colleagues? A questioning mind and the ability to challenge and interrogate in different situations is a key part of this role.
Do you have experience of any of the following?
- An appropriate level of relevant industrial experience which could be derived from technical leadership, engineering management and project delivery.
- Working collaboratively from our office and across our client sites to understand clients’ needs and deliver to time, cost and quality.
- Working in highly regulated environments such as nuclear.
- Subject matter expertise and technical direction.
- Delivery and leadership responsibility for design and validation of new structures and structural modifications.
- Direct large teams and complex multidisciplinary projects.
- Ownership of project resources, budgets, and delivery.
- Identifying workstream opportunities and winning/bidding new projects.
- Influence business direction and performance.
